Dave Bautista, who plays Drax in theGuardians of the Galaxyseries, said he would quit the third installment if fired director James Gunn's script is not used for it, according to GameSpot.

Disney chose to fire Gunn after a series of problematic tweets that included jokes about pedophilia were discovered. The tweets were made over 10 years ago and were resurfaced by The Daily Caller, a conservative website.
"Nobody's defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man," Bautista said. "If [Marvel] doesn't use that script, then I'm going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I'd be doing James a disservice if I didn't."

While Bautista has been the most outspoken cast member regarding Gunn's dismissal, the rest of the main cast -- which includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel -- signed a letter in July supporting Gunn and vouching for his character. The letter did not ask that he be reinstated as director, however.

"I have regretted them for many years since--not just because they were stupid, not at all funny, wildly insensitive, and certainly not provocative like I had hoped, but also because they don't reflect the person I am today or have been for some time," he said. "Regardless of how much time has passed, I understand and accept the business decisions taken."

Gunn apologized for the tweets, calling them a failed attempt to be provocative.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3is reportedly scheduled for a 2020 release and will begin filming in February 2019. Disney is not considering rehiring Gunn for the film, according toVariety.
