Drake has offered an explanation for a photo of him wearing blackface.

Drake has offered an explanation for a photo of him wearing blackface that has surfaced during the feud between him and fellow rapper Pusha T, CNN reported.

In a note posted on Instagram, Drake told fans that the photo was taken in 2007 as part of a project that he undertook with his friend Mazin Elsadig when both were attempting to work as actors. The project, according to Drake, sought to emphasize the struggles that young black actors may face when trying to get film roles as a result of their skin color.
"This was to highlight and raise our frustrations with not always getting a fair chance in the industry and to make a point that the struggle for black actors has not changed much," Drake said.

Pusha T used the photo as the cover art for a new diss track, "The Story of Adidon."

"I don't edit images...this is a REAL picture," Pusha T captioned a tweet showing the photo. "These are his truths, see for yourself."

Drake has not responded to Pusha T's latest track, which was released Wednesday, aside from his Instagram post
