Netflix has acquired "First Ladies," a political comedy film starring Jennifer Aniston as the president and Tig Notaro as her wife.

Netflix has acquired "First Ladies," a political comedy film written by Tig Notaro and her spouse Stephanie Allynne, Variety reported. The movie will star Notaro and Jennifer Aniston and tell the story of America's first female president (Aniston) and her wife (Notaro).

While there have been several shows and movies depicting women presidents, portraying a lesbian president and first lady duo is a first for the industry. According to GLAAD's annual report on TV representation in November 2017, most representations of LGBTQ people on screen feature white, male actors.
Notaro, Allynne, and Aniston will also produce the show in collaboration with Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Betsy Koch for Gloria Sanchez Productions. Chris Henchy will be the film's executive producer.

Notaro and Aniston have collaborated with Netflix in the past, with Notaro's original comedy special "Happy to Be Here" debuting on the site on May 22. She will also direct Ellen DeGeneres' new Netflix original comedy special. Aniston will star in Netflix's new movie "Murder Mystery" with Adam Sandler.

Netflix has not yet announced when production on the film is set to begin or when it will be released on the streaming platform
