Jimmy Wong and Doua Moua have been cast as Ling and Po, respectively, in Disney's live-actionMulanmovie, Deadline reported.

Wong is best known for the web seriesVideo Game High School, while Moua appeared in the Clint Eastwood filmGrand Torino.
"Back in December I found out I got the role of a lifetime, and 8 months later I can finally tell you all about it: I'M GOING TO BE IN MULAN," Wong tweeted. "#Representation worth fighting for."

Moua made a more reserved announcement, tweeting a photo of an article about his casting with the hashtag "#livingthedream."

The film, which is already in production, will star Yifei Liu as Mulan and is being directed by Niki Caro. Jet Li, Yoson An, Rosalind Chao, Cheng Pei-Pei, and Nelson Lee have also been cast. When the film was first announced, Disney said that it would make a point of casting Chinese actors in an effort to avoid whitewashing. The studio's animated film featured voice acting from Jimmy Osmond and Eddie Murphy.

Filming locations include New Zealand and China.

The movie is based on a Chinese folktale about a young woman who dresses as a man to join the fight to save China, with the animated version released in 1998. The remake, which is scheduled to be released on March 27, 2020 and was adapted by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Elizabeth Martin, and Lauren Hynek, relies more heavily on the original story than the animated version, so audiences can expect some changes to the story
