Melissa Joan Hart to star in 'Clarissa Explains It All' reboot for Nickelodeon

The news comes in light of Viacom's recent 20-episode order for a reboot of children's show hit 'Blues Clues.'

Nickelodeon is in talks to bring back one of it's former sitcom hits,Clarissa Explains It All.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Viacom-owned cable network is still in early discussions for the reboot. It has been confirmed that Melissa Joan Hart will return to star in a reprisal of her role as Clarissa Darling, but this time as the mother of the family.
Creator of the original series, Mitchell Kriegman is also in talks to return to write and executive produce. Hart will also executive produce under her Hartbreak Films banner, which she co-runs with her mother, television producer Paula Hart.

Clarissa Explains It Allran for five seasons on Nickelodeon from 1991 to 1994. It followed Clarissa, a teenager who spoke directly to the audience as she dealt with problems including school, boys and family. The series was Nickelodeon's first to feature a female lead, and made way for the success of other female-led shows such asThe Secret World of Alex Mackand more.

After the success ofClarissa Explains It All, Hart went on to star in the long running seriesSabrina the Teenage Witch on ABC.

"I like the way we leftSabrina. I thinkSabrinaended on a really great note, and I don't think you want to go back and explore that," Hart said in an interview with THR last February, "At the same time, I thinkClarissaended on a note that could be explored again, because it didn't really have an ending it sort of ended."
